Minutes of the Annual General Meeting

Held at 19:30 on Wednesday 16th April 2025,

Strachur Heron Hall (New Hall)

 

Members present: Archie Reid (Convener), Ian Lowe, Catherine MacDiarmid, Lizzie MacDonald, Isabel McGladdery, William McGladdery, Kirstie Reid and Iain Wilkie (Secretary).

 

Also in attendance: Cammy MacDonald (Strachur & District Community Development Company), Heather Grier (Strachur Medial Practice Patient Participation Group), Gordon Neish (Dunoon Observer) and nine members of the public.

 

1. Convener’s opening remarks.

Archie welcomed everyone to the meeting.

 

2. Apologies and declarations of interest.

Cllr William Sinclair apologised for non-attendance. There were no declarations of interest.

 

3. Minutes.

Minutes for the AGM held on 17th April 2024 were agreed as accurate.

 

4. Matters arising.

There were none.

 

5. Secretary’s report.

Since the last AGM the Secretary had been active in four areas: correspondence, articles, consultations, and outside groups and activities. The following is a summary.

 

Correspondence (main issues)

Road safety (A815, A886, Village Road, school crossing); Argyll Rallies (2024 and 2025); potential sites for a new cemetery; and Manse Gardens.

 

Articles for the Newsletter and/or Facebook

Thirty-four articles were produced, 11 of which referred to surveys or consultations.

 

Surveys and consultations responded to by the Community Council

Responses to seven surveys and consultations were submitted.

 

Outside Groups/Activities

Attended: a. Eight Argyll Rally Community Council Liaison meetings (via ‘Zoom’).

b. Two Community Fund Committee meetings.

 

Updated the Strachur & District Emergency Plan.

 

Delivered Argyll Rally 2024 Residents Information booklets and preliminary letters on Argyll Rally 2025 to properties adjacent to the B8000 closed stage that are within our area of responsibility.

 

On call as Resident Liaison Officer for Argyll Rally 2024.

 

Organised Special CC Meeting on proposals for Argyll Rally 2025.

 

Designed and organised distribution of CC Information Leaflet.

 

Iain thanked his fellow Community Councillors and Cllr Sinclair for their help during the year, as well as Drew Stewart for including CC articles in the Newsletter and Ian Lowe and William McGladdery for posting Facebook versions of the articles.

 

6. Convener’s report.

Archie thanked the Vice-Convener, Treasurer, Secretary and other Community Councillors for their attendance at and contribution to meetings. He also thanked our Local Councillors for their assistance.

7. Treasurer’s report.

The annual accounts were presented to the meeting (see page 3) and accepted.

The bank balance as at 14.4.25 was £2,399.94.

Lindsay Walker was thanked for auditing the accounts.

 

8. Election of Community Councillors to posts on the Council.

The following were installed: Archie Reid (Convener), Ian Lowe (Vice-Convener), Lizzie MacDonald (Treasurer), Kirstie Reid (Secretary and Health Representative).

 

9. The following programme of meetings was proposed and accepted:

11th June 2025, Strachur Memorial Hall

13th August 2025, Strathlachlan Community Centre

15th October 2025, Strachur Memorial Hall

3rd December 2025, Strachur Memorial Hall

14th January 2026, Strachur Memorial Hall

11th March 2026, Strathlachlan Community Centre

15th April 2026, AGM, Strachur Memorial Hall

 

10. AOB.

Resignations were received from Steve Mclaughlin and Iain Wilkie.

 

11. Archie declared the meeting closed at 19:45. There followed an Ordinary Meeting of

the CC.
