Minutes of the Annual General Meeting
Held at 19:30 on Wednesday 11th April 2018, Strachur Memorial Hall
Members present: Archie Reid (Convener), John Fleming (Vice Convener), Isabel
McGladdery (Treasurer), Ceci Alderton, Kirstie Reid, Les Earle and Iain Wilkie (Secretary).
Also in attendance: Cllr Alan Reid, Jeff Wilson (Strachur & District Community
Development Company) and two members of the public.
1. Convener’s opening remarks.
Archie opened the meeting with a general welcome.
2. Apologies and declarations of interest.
PC Donald Mackay and Cllrs Blair and McNeilly apologised for non-attendance. There were no declarations of interest.
3. Minutes.
Minutes for the Annual General Meeting held on 12th April 2017 were agreed as accurate.
4. Matters arising.
There were no matters arising.
5.. Secretary’s report.
In the last year the Secretary had been active in five areas: correspondence, articles, consultations and outside groups. The following is a summary.
Correspondence (main issues)
Antisocial camping; Young Scot Rewards; Manse Gardens; Creag Dhubh wind farm proposal (for which a Special CC meeting was organised); missing footway at A815/A886 junction; flooding at Strachur and Strathlachlan graveyards; Lephindrissach historical remains; speed limit on A815 through Strachur.
Articles in the newsletter
Twenty nine articles were produced, ten of which referred to consultations.
Consultations responded to by the Community Council
Review of the Scheme for the Establishment of CCs; Woodland Creation Plan for Succoth Glen; Long Term Forest Plan for Strachur Forest; Argyll & Bute HSCP Amended Integration Scheme; Main Issues report for LDP2; Camping in the National Park; Loch Eck Land Management Plan; Disposal of unused police premises; Carers (Scotland) Act 2016..
Outside Groups/Activities
Cowal OOH Review Group; Strachur & District Community Fund; attendance at training event on Community Led Action Planning and at two meeting in Manse Gardens re change in status from Sheltered to Amenity Housing.
Iain thanked all CCllrs for their help during his first year as Secretary, especially Les who had tolerated many questions on how to do things and who had agreed to continue posting Facebook versions of CC articles.
6. Convener’s report.
Archie thanked all for coming out on the night. He thanked his fellow community councillors for their support over the last year, Iain for taking on the secretary position, Isabel for doing the treasurer’s job and all for the various meetings they had attended on behalf of the community from various health meetings, meetings with the National Park authorities, Argyll and Bute council, Development Company among others. He also thanked our three councillors for the support throughout the last year and Ian Asher for auditing the accounts. He was grateful to Les Earle for carrying out his duties of secretary over the years since joining us but leaves us with a few vacancies on the CC. He said that the Community Council can only operate to our full potential with the community informing us of any problems that we have to attend to.
7. Treasurer’s report.
The annual accounts were presented to the meeting and accepted.
The bank balance as at 31/3/18 was £2,323.40 with the excess of income over expenditure for the year of £12.45.
Isabel gave her thanks to Ian Asher who audited the accounts.
8. Election of Community Councillors to posts on the Council.
The following were installed - Archie Reid (Convener), John Fleming (Vice Convener), Isabel McGladdery (Treasurer) and Iain Wilkie (Secretary).
9. The following programme of meetings was proposed and accepted:

16th January 2019, Strathlachlan Community Centre

(Reference to the Strachur Memorial Hall includes the New Hall.)
11. Archie declared the meeting closed at 20.00. There followed an Ordinary Meeting of the CC.
