Friendship Group Annual and Extraordinary Meeting

Following my article in the June 2021 Newsletter, almost all the responses I received acknowledged that times had changed and the Friendship Group had, after several decades, fulfilled its purpose. Absolutely nobody volunteered to fill any of the five formal posts leaving the Chair (Anne Craig) and me to conclude that an Extraordinary General Meeting would have to be called to consider the question of dissolving the Group and arranging for the disposal of the assets. The time and date of the proposed meetings is Tuesday 5th October, 3:00 pm, in the New Hall.
The purpose of this article is to give public notice of the Friendship Group’s Annual General Meeting to be followed by an Extraordinary General Meeting at which the following proposals will be put for consideration:
1. That the Strachur Friendship Group shall be dissolved.
2. The Management Committee shall, after the satisfaction of any proper debts and liabilities, transfer any assets remaining to such other charitable organisation or organisations that have similar objects to the Strachur Friendship Group. All transactions to be concluded by the 31st October 2021.
The proposal to dissolve the Group must be passed by a two thirds majority of those present and entitled to vote. Anne and I will be guided by the views expressed at the Extraordinary General Meeting as to the disposal of the Group’s assets.
