Minutes of the Annual General Meeting

Held at 19:30 on Wednesday 12th April 2023,

Strachur Memorial Hall

 

Members present: Archie Reid (Convener), Isabel McGladdery, William McGladdery, Steve

Mclaughlin, Kirstie Reid and Iain Wilkie (Secretary).

 

Also in attendance: Cllrs Gordon Blair and William Sinclair and two members of the public.

 

1. Convener’s opening remarks.

Archie opened the meeting with a general welcome and acknowledged the attendance of two newly co-opted members - William McGladdery and Steve Mclaughlin.

 

2. Apologies and declarations of interest.

There were no apologies and no declarations of interest.

 

3. Minutes.

Minutes for the AGM held on 27th April 2022 were agreed as accurate.

 

4. Matters arising.

a. Change of name.

As from 27.4.22, the CC was renamed Strachur & District Community Council, this change having been approved by Argyll & Bute Council.

 

5. Secretary’s report.

Since the last AGM the Secretary had been active in four areas: correspondence, articles, consultations, and outside groups and activities. The following is a summary.

 

Correspondence (main issues)

Argyll Rally 2023; A886 speed limit and road conditions; Manse Gardens; feral pigs.

 

Articles for the Newsletter and/or Facebook

Thirty-one articles were produced, eight of which referred to surveys or consultations.

 

Surveys and consultations responded to by the Community Council

Responses to six surveys and consultations were submitted.

 

Outside Groups/Activities

Attended: two Strachur & District Community Fund Committee meetings; eight Argyll Rally Community Council Liaison meetings (via ‘Zoom’).

 

Updated the Strachur & District Emergency Plan twice. Updates included the addition of instructions for accessing the Hall defibrillator.

Delivered Residents Information Packs for Argyll Rally 2022 and preliminary letters on Argyll Rally 2023 to properties beside route of Loch Fyne stage.

 

Iain thanked his fellow Community Councillors and Cllr William Sinclair for their help during the year, as well as Drew Stewart for including CC articles in the Newsletter and Les Earle for posting Facebook versions the articles.

 

6. Convener’s report.

Archie started off by expressing his condolences to the family of the late Mrs Mary Thomson, a great and well-known member of the community. Over the last year the community had started to get back to some form of normality after the COVID-19 pandemic. Archie also thanked everyone who turned out to the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. Lastly, he thanked his fellow Community Councillors for all their hard work attending various meetings throughout the year, as well as Drew Stewart and Ceci Alderton who left at the Community Council elections, and William McGladdery and Steve Mclaughlin for joining us. Archie looked forward to working on behalf of the community in the coming year.

7. Treasurer’s report.

The annual accounts were presented to the meeting (see page 3) and accepted.

The bank balance as at 9.4.23 was £2,553.44 with the excess of income over expenditure for 2022-23 being £50.17.

Lindsay Walker was thanked for auditing the accounts.

 

8. Election of Community Councillors to posts on the Council.

The following were installed: Archie Reid (Convener), Kirstie Reid (Vice-Convener and Health Representative), Isabel McGladdery (Treasurer), Iain Wilkie (Secretary).

 

9. The following programme of meetings was proposed and accepted:

14th June 2023, Strachur Memorial Hall

16th August 2023, Strathlachlan Community Centre

11th October 2023, Strachur Memorial Hall

13th December 2023, Strachur Memorial Hall

17th January 2024, Strachur Memorial Hall

13th March 2024, Strathlachlan Community Centre

17th April 2024, AGM, Strachur Memorial Hall

(Reference to the Strachur Memorial Hall includes the New Hall.)

 

10. AOB:

There was none.

 

11. Archie declared the meeting closed at 19:40. There followed an Ordinary Meeting of

the CC.
