Strachur Memorial Hall Biomass Boiler

A new biomass boiler has been installed at the Strachur Memorial Hall. This had been identified as a priority in the Community Action Plan 2008 – 2011. The perceived benefits were a reduction in carbon footprint of approximately 20 tonnes of CO2 per annum and proofing against oil price-inflation. Perthshire Biofuels were awarded the design and build contract for a 35 kW boiler and woodchip bunker housed in a container connecting to the existing Hall heating system by a district heating pipe. At a cost of £50k the project would have been unaffordable without generous grant support from Community Energy Scotland and Argyll & the Islands LEADER Programme.
