Two shore walks will reveal a fascinating landscape history going back 600 million years, and ending in the events of the recent ice age and changing sea level. Here there is evidence of rocks which started out near the South Pole, while rock from St. Catherine’s was used in the 18C re-build of Inveraray Castle.

Bring light refreshments.

Distance/Time: a few hundred metres at each site / 2.5 hours

Start/Finish: Initially park/meet in car park opposite Strachur Village Hall, just off the A815. GR. NN093015. Then car-share to geological sites on shore as parking limited.
